United Reform Party Canada

National Energy Policy

Canada was and always has been reliant on the energy sector as the mainstay of its economy.

Recent governments have failed to support these sectors of our economy in favor of more expensive and less viable methods of producing energy.

They have also failed to invest in research and development that would create new forms and sources of energy and provide cheaper access to energy for every Canadian citizen.

The costs of energy in this country have skyrocketed. The only reason for this is due to miss management of our resources, increased taxes stifled development of our own resources and an increased dependency on the energy produced by foreign nations.

The United Reform Party Canada is committed to bringing Canada back as a leader in the energy sector. Canada has huge oil and gas reserves and there is no reason why it should be dependent on importing these products from other countries. There is also no reason why it should be selling its excess resources for discounted rates to our southern neighbors when our own citizens are paying three or four times the cost during peak hours for this same energy.

Canada has access to an almost unlimited amount of Electric power that is generated from Hydro Dams.  There is no reason these sources of energy should be mothballed in favor of more expensive wind-generated power or other less efficient systems.

Canadians need to be able to buy gas cheaply and export our Canadian made petroleum products for a profit to help reduce debt. Current governments have achieved the exact opposite result.

The United Reform Party Canada is committed to policies that will ensure that every Canadian citizen has access to inexpensive and clean power to meet their daily requirements. It is committed to providing Canadian businesses with the most cost-effective clean energy that it needs in order to be able to offer their products competitively to world markets. This will attract new businesses to Canada, strengthen our economy, increase jobs, and take positive steps to actually reduce our national debt.

The united Reform Party Canada is committed to building a national Energy Corridor (pipelines) that will move petroleum oil and gas across this country from coast to coast in a safe, inexpensive, and environmentally responsible fashion. It will make sure that electricity is produced and transmitted across this great country and make certain that every Canadian citizen has access to cheap and clean electrical power no matter where in this magnificent country they may reside. It will also work to reduce the risk of massive oil spills on our coastlines and in our lakes as we have seen when the large supertankers have an accident.

Canada needs to be a leader in the research, development, and implementation of green energy technology. A program needs to be put into place that will foster the development of new technology and help Canadian citizens and Canadian companies bring new environmental energy programs to market.

This could include the development of hydrogen cell technology, Biodiesel, and other forms of power generation, in addition to the development of electric vehicles, aircraft, marine craft, and even trains.
