Lionel Poizner is 56 years old and lived in or near the Eglinton Lawrence Riding for over 40 years.

He graduated from Ryerson University and is an engineer by profession. Lionel has spent much of his career working for both small and medium size businesses including the Sobeys grocery chain, Purolator Courier, and the family business Anda Tool & Fastener.  Lionel has worked as a consultant in the Information, Engineering and Logistics and Supply Chain fields.

Having been involved in a number of businesses over the years, Lionel is very aware of the challenges most small and medium sized businesses face here in Ontario. He has seen many companies closed down in the Humber River – Black Creek area. He has seen a lot of manufacturing jobs leave the area and get moved to Asia and abroad. Most of these challenges, business closures and business failures have been brought on by our local governments that spend too much time trying to raise taxes while forgetting how these taxes are being generated. This anti-small business attitude has to stop.  Lionel joined the Trillium Party of Ontario in order to raise awareness of all the issues facing this province today and to make sure that government at all levels, implement social and financial programs and strategies based on common sense ideas and fiscal responsibility. The province of Ontario use to be the business powerhouse of the Canadian economy and it can be once again.

Lionel believes that small to medium sized businesses are the lifeblood of this province and the country.  99.7% of working Canadians work at a small to medium sized business, and we need to make sure these businesses flourish and grow.  The people of small and medium sized businesses in Ontario and Canada represent the middle class. They create jobs, generate wealth and are a productive force within this province and our local communities. Lionel believes that having a strong and fair economy will provide the investment necessary to fund, and to continue to fund, the social programs that our province desperately needs.

Lionel got married to a wonderful Filipina wife in the Philippines and has a 15 year old teenage daughter. Lionel experienced first hand the issues and delays that are frustrating Canadian citizens as they try and unite their families here in Canada. Lionel enjoys playing golf, SKUBA diving, boating, swimming, baseball, tennis, and football. He is an avid reader in his spare time, and has been an active member of the community.
