Foreign Aid Policy Reforms

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development – Jan 15, 2018

Canada spends about $5 billion a year on international aid, which is a substantial amount of money!

Some questions that need to be asked are

  1. “Where is this money going?”
  2. “Is it being spent wisely?”
  3. “Are the people that were meant to receive it actually getting it?”

Far too much money is being sent to foreign countries as aid and much of it is being wasted and does not even get to the people that it is supposed to help.

If you consider that we are having trouble funding our key social programs like health care, mental health, veterans, and seniors programs it would be prudent to re-examine our foreign aid programs to make sure our own social and health care programs are fully funded and operating properly first.

As a responsible international participant in our global community we need to make sure we are maintaining a sustainable, profitable and healthy economy so that we are able to help those who are less fortunate.

If we are not able to help ourselves, how can we ever be able to help others?

The United Reform Party Canada stands behind its policy of putting Canada and Canadians first!

The United Reform Party Canada’s goal is to:

  1. Cut all spending on foreign aid programs
  2. Re-examine all existing foreign aid programs to see where the money is going, how it is being spent, and who is receiving its benefit.
  3. Re-start only those programs that are effective and which we can afford once all essential social services, education, senior and veteran programs have been funded.

The amount of money saved by cutting these programs will be substantial. Canada will participate in foreign aid programs but not at the expense of its citizens.
